North Bengal Medical College (estd. 1968) is the largest healthcare facility in the North Bengal region of West Bengal serving as a tertiary referral institute and has teaching programs for graduation and postgraduation. It is one of the nine government medical colleges in West Bengal.

The college has a diverse community of students coming from different parts of the country - from Rajasthan in the west to Manipur in the east, and Delhi in the north to Tamil Nadu in the south and even from the Andamans. The huge campus, measuring 161 acres, is also shared with the students of North Bengal Dental College, Nursing Training Centre and paramedical courses.

The hospital caters to a large population of 15 million in North Bengal and many more from the surrounding states of north east India and the neighbouring countries of Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
